Allison Cappella is new Executive Director of Land Bank


The Board of Directors of the Newburgh Community Land Bank is pleased to announce the appointment of Allison G. Cappella as the new Executive Director. Cappella, a proud City of Newburgh resident, is excited to bring her legal and community development experience to further the organization’s mission. Prior to joining the Land Bank, Cappella was an Associate Attorney at Jacobowitz and Gubits, LLP.

“On behalf of The Board and staff of Newburgh Community Land Bank, I am delighted that Allison has accepted the Executive Director position,” says NCLB Board Chair Lisa Daily. “Allison has already proven to be a dynamic leader and an effective advocate for a range of issues in the City of Newburgh. Her legal, real estate, and non-profit expertise will help continue to guide our organization forward into a strong future.”

Cappella is President of the Board of Directors of the Newburgh Preservation Association and has served as a Board Member of various Newburgh development non-profits including Safe Harbors of the Hudson. She is a recent graduate of the Pattern Fellowship Program. Cappella is also a member of the Orange County Bar, Women’s Bar Association of Orange and Sullivan County, the Westchester County Bar, and the Justice Brandeis Law Society. She is also a member of the New York State Assessors’ Association, the Orange County Association of Assessors, and the Westchester County Assessors’ Association.

Cappella says, “I am thrilled for the opportunity to work in my community and to be a part of the Land Bank’s continued success in the City.”

Since its incorporation in 2012, Newburgh Community Land Bank has acquired 116 vacant or abandoned properties and has returned over $5 million in assessed value to the tax rolls. NCLB has recently successfully raised an additional $2 million from Enterprise Community Partners Community Revitalization Initiative to focus on creating two-family, rental-assisted homeownership opportunities.
