Assault at NFA

On February 7th 2019 at approximately 2 p.m. the City of Newburgh police officer assigned to the main campus of Newburgh Free Academy as the CRO (Community Resource Officer) was notified about an assault that had occurred against a teacher by a student. This assault took place inside of a cafeteria. The teacher was transported to St. Luke’s hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the assault.

As a result of the investigation, City of Newburgh resident Terrance Melvin, age 17, was arrested and charged with Assault in the 2nd degree.

Mr. Melvin was held pending arraignment in City of Newburgh court on February 8th 2019.

No further information is being released at this time.
