Charlotte Elizabeth Noble, of Wallkill, died Tuesday, February 2, 2021. She was 91.
Daughter of the late, G. Boyd and Charlotte E. (Dougan) Curry, she was born on September 24, 1929 in Newburgh.
“Bette”, as she was known to family and friends, was the retired former owner operator of Leptondale Nursery and Greenhouses in Newburgh for more than 50 years. After retiring she continued to work at the greenhouses for a few short years, and could always be found in the geranium house. She was a very active member of St. George’s Episcopal Church where she served as Treasurer for the Vestry and the Alter Guild. Bette was a member of ZONTA International, and was a Cornell Extension trained Master Gardener. In her early years she was a Cheerleader and Secretary of her 1947 graduating class at NFA, a speed skater at Deleno Hitch in Newburgh, a Girl Scout Leader and PTA Officer. She had a love of plants and animals and brought so much light and beauty to the world. Bette was a loving mother, wife and friend. Beloved by all who met her, she will be truly missed.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond Schleinkofer; two sons, William K. Noble, and David M. Noble, of Wallkill; a daughter, Catherine E. Noble, also of Wallkill; two stepdaughters, Maureen Bellis of Maine and Mary Meyer of Gardiner; eleven grandchildren, Robert, Christopher, Lindsay, David, Julie, Michael, William, Melissa, Josh, Michael and Trevor; and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Charlotte was predeceased by her first husband, Robert M. Noble, a son, Robert B. Noble, and a grandson, Devin Meyer.
Private Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory.
Plans for a Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
