The City of Newburgh applauds the award of nearly $1.5 million for three transformational economic development projects. The funding will support the expansion of Graft Cider, renovation of PS 6 Center for Film and Television, and redevelopment of the historic Ritz Theater by Safe Harbors of the Hudson. These funds were granted by the NYS Regional Economic Development Council (REDC) and solidify Newburgh’s position as an arts, cultural, and tourism hub.
Graft Cider, LLC received $264,000 for the Graft Cider Expansion project. Graft Cider will adaptively reuse an old factory building to create a new 14,000-square-foot production/distribution facility and tasting room in the City of Newburgh.
PS 6 Center for Film and Television received $955,000. PS 6 Liberty Street, LLC will renovate PS 6 Center for Film and Television to be a one-stop-shop film/TV facility including sound stages and production offices as well as rental space for events, weddings and photo shoots. The community flex space on the first floor will be used for a job training, mentorship programs, art shows, and screenings.
Safe Harbors of the Hudson, Inc. received $222,900 for the Ritz Theater Redevelopment. Safe Harbors of the Hudson will prepare construction documents for rehabilitation and re-development of the historic Ritz Theater in Newburgh, as part of a multi-year, multi-million dollar restoration of the theater on Broadway.

These three projects are all key anchor projects for their respective neighborhoods, all constitute significant rehabilitations of iconic historic structures, and further Newburgh’s position as a regional destination for the arts,” said Alexandra Church, City of Newburgh Director of Planning and Development.
