The City of Newburgh completed its 2016 In Rem tax foreclosure proceeding (Orange County Index No.: 2016-8636) with the filing of a deed with the Orange County Clerk on August 7, 2019.

The City Council, by Resolution No. 154-2019 of June 10, 2019, authorized a procedure for repurchase of these tax foreclosed properties as detailed in Chapter 93 of the City of Newburgh Code of Ordinances.

Please take notice that if you are the former owner or a lienor of property affected by the 2016 In Rem tax foreclosure proceeding, and you wish to repurchase said property, you must file a completed application with the Office of the Corporation Counsel by no later than Monday, October 7, 2019. A completed application must include a completed application form and the required deposit amount. This is the only process by which an affected former owner or lienor will receive repurchase consideration. The City Council will not accept any other requests in any other form.

Upon receipt of a completed application, applicants will be notified of the closing deadline date, amounts due at closing, and other closing details. All closings will take place at City Hall, 83 Broadway, Newburgh. The final deadline to close must be no later than Thursday, December 5, 2019. No extensions of time to either request repurchase or make payment shall be granted under any circumstances.
