The City of Newburgh will hold its inaugural ceremony honoring Mayor Torrance Harvey, Councilman Anthony Grice, Councilman Robert Sklarz, and Councilman Omari Shakur this Sunday, January 5 at 3 p.m. in the city’s activity center at 401 Washington Street.
Remarks will be given during the ceremony by Assemblyman Jonathan Jacobson. This ceremony will mark a first for Shakur, as this is his first successful campaign for office. As a prominent voice in the community, Shakur taking office is an achievement for many. Shakur will be replacing Councilwoman Hillary Rayford. This ceremony will mark the return of Harvey, Grice, and Sklarz.
All four hope to continue the city’s renaissance with their new terms.
