A recent letter to the editor accuses the present President of the United States and his political party of dictatorial totalitarianism by impeaching the past president while he was a sitting president and daring to put him on trial after he left office.

First, there is precedent for trying impeached federal officials after they leave office.

Second, and more important, the previous President and the majority of his party are the ones who are acting in a dictatorial manner.  Despite all evidence to the contrary, that former President and most of his party claim he won the election and should continue to rule.  He then urged an attack on the Capitol of the United States of America to do away with those elected to govern legislatively.  He even urged the Vice-President of the United States to defy the Constitution and make him President again.

I fear that utter loyalty to a certain individual blinds one to the truth.  The God of love and justice is the only One who deserves such loyalty.
