Voters in the City of Newburgh face a critical election November 5. Of the three City Council seats up for grabs, Mayor Torrance Harvey and Councilman Anthony Grice should be returned to office; they have done well and deserve a full term. It is critical, however, that voters elect the right person for the third City Council seat. The best person running for that City Council position is Christine Bello.

Bello has run a business on Broadway for over 40 years; when elected she will add another business perspective to Newburgh City Council that is sorely needed. Through her business Bello is involved with Newburgh residents on a daily basis and will bring that understanding and knowledge to City Council as well.

Bello has a history of service in Newburgh including a prior term on Council. In this election Bello actually has more experience than 6 of the 7 current City Council members. This is important for many reasons.

Newburgh needs Bello’s experience in order to see through the slick developer’s looking to rip Newburgh off by pushing projects that will suck the life out of Newburgh’s community, tax base and future. Bello will fight against projects that seek to import and warehouse more poverty while paying minimal taxes and destroying the Newburgh neighborhoods they try to infest. Bello will, instead, work to bring in quality redevelopment and jobs to the City to help build Newburgh’s future.

Christine Bello should be elected to Newburgh City Council. She understands Newburgh and will brings an experienced no nonsense approach to running City government. Electing Bello will help move Newburgh forward. If voters compare her background, experience and record to the other candidates, they will vote for Christine Bello for City Council.
