Families gather at Newburgh Town Hall

It was a family affair for the re-elected members of the Town of Newburgh board.

The families of Town Supervisor Gil Piaquadio and Deputy Supervisor Scott Manley were present for their swearing-in ceremonies, which meant a lot to both of them.

“With family this size, how could I lose the election?” Piaquadio joked to the crowd.

Manley appreciated how family members from all sides of the political aisle came to show support for Manley, who has served his community since 2015.

“It makes me feel very proud that the family came out,” he said. “We’re not always in the same party, but we’re in the same town.”

Once all elected members were sworn in, it was business as usual for the town board.

Appointments for various town positions were confirmed, including the town attorney and highway superintendent.

Piaquadio praised the appointments for both Mark Taylor and Mark Hall, respectively.

“Mark has been a great asset to this town as attorney,” he said of Taylor.

Piaquadio referred to Hall as “the best highway Superintendent you could find in this state.”

In addition to his other responsibilities, Piaquadio will be authorized to sign checks, approve of budget transfers up to $7,500, and serve as a justice of the peace during civil wedding ceremonies.
