Go on a wild turkey trek

Posted

On Sunday, November 25 at 10 a.m. the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum will be hosting a Wild Turkey Trek at the Outdoor Discovery Center, located on Muser Drive, across from 174 Angola Road, Cornwall.

Join Museum Educator Carl Heitmuller to burn off some of that Thanksgiving feast with a 1.5 - 2 mile moderate hike through the forest in search of Wild Turkeys! Can turkeys fly? What do they eat? Learn all of that and more, and maybe you will see some or hear a Tom calling during our Turkey Trek. Hike and find out about these beautiful birds and their amazing adaptations. According to Heitmuller, “Eastern Wild Turkeys are common in the forests of New York State, but there is something exciting about getting to see one up close!”

Please wear sturdy hiking shoes or boots and dress for the weather. This program is recommended for adults and children ages 7 and up. Enjoy FREE same day admission to the Wildlife Education Center after paid attendance to this program with “Meet the Animals” presentations at 1p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Admission:. Museum Members: $5/Adults - $3/Children. Not-yet-Members: $10/Adults - $7/Children.
