Newburgh Free Academy’s Ryler Gould qualified for the state indoor track meet when he won the 55-meter hurdles Friday at West Point with a time of 7.70.
The Goldbacks’ boys’ team won the 800-meter relay with a time of 1:34.41 to qualify for the state meet. The boys also won the 1,600-meter relay with a time of 3:26.76 to qualify for the state meet.
For the girls, Nancy Johnson was second in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.46 to qualify for the state.
The state indoor track and field championships will be conducted at the Ocean Breeze facility on State Island Saturday. Following the Goldbacks’ return, practice starts for the spring outdoor season next week.
