Golf and tennis outings raise $135,000 for hospital

The St. Luke’s Cornwall Health System Foundation held its annual Golf and Tennis Outing on Monday, June 24, which raised $135,000 in net proceeds in support of Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall (MSLC). The event, co-chaired by Frederick Dabroski, Jr. and Robert Hatfield for golf, joined by Ellen Kelly and Sue Paunovic for tennis, was held at the Powelton Club and included more than 150 golfers and a record number of tennis participants.

The top sponsors for this year’s outing included Pepsi Cola of the Hudson Valley, Restorix Health and Laborer’s Local 17 LECET. Additionally, Hudson Valley Chrysler Jeep Dodge was the hole in one sponsor at the annual event.

“Every year we look forward to our Golf and Tennis Outing, bringing together community members, donors and friends of Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall,” said Joan Cusack-McGuirk, MSLC President and CEO. “Thanks to the generous support of this year’s participants, we have been able to raise an incredible amount to be donated back to our community hospital.”

Funds from the 2018 Golf and Tennis Outing were used to purchase new equipment for the hospital’s Central Sterile Department, increasing efficiency in the surgical sterilization process with newer technologies. MSLC has undergone much transformation in the last 18 months; the hospital announced its formal name change to Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall this past March, highlighting the partnership between Montefiore Health System and St. Luke’s Cornwall. Renovations on the hospital’s Newburgh campus are also underway, as part of the Emergency Department Expansion Project.

MSLC’s Cornwall campus has also transformed into an outpatient center of excellence, with the opening of a newly renovated Rehabilitative Services Center, Fresenius Kidney Care, providing outpatient dialysis services, along with the existing Littman Cancer Center, and Centers for Pain Management, Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine, Sleep Medicine and Primary Care.

“I’d like to thank our golf and tennis committee for their efforts that made the day such a success, along with our dedicated donors” said Anne Marie Schoonhoven, Executive Director of the St. Luke’s Cornwall Health System Foundation.
