Happy Wednesday!
Hope the Easter Bunny hops into your house and brings your favorite candy.

April is Volunteer Month. Volunteering is freely offering to do something. More than 500 fire departments across New York are gearing up for the 9th annual RecruitNY weekend coming up next month.

The goal of RecruitNY is to increase volunteer firefighter membership throughout the state. The event is put on by the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY).

During the weekend of April 27-28, volunteer fire departments will open their doors and give the public a glimpse of what it means to be a volunteer firefighter. Organizers say the weekend also gives people a better idea about the role their local fire department plays in protecting their community.

Good-Will Fire Department, 1 South Plank Road, will be holding a Recruit NY Open House on Sunday, April 28 through the Recruit NY initiative. Stop in and find out if there “Is There A Fire In You?” or the many of other volunteer opportunities that are available.

While visiting Good-Will Fire Department congratulate the firefighters on winning the Recruit NY Sectional contest.

If life responsibilities don’t allow you time to make a commitment to an organization, how about helping a neighbor, or picking up the remnants of the winter and getting some sun and exercise at the same time. To all that Pay It Forward, Thank You!

The Town Clerk’s Office in the Town of Newburgh, is located at 1496 Route 300, will be open for business on Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m. until 12 noon.
The Town Clerk’s Office issues marriage licenses, which are a pre-requisite for a wedding in New York State. Saturday, April 27 would be a perfect time for couples planning a June wedding. Marriage licenses have to be obtained within a 60 day period prior to the actual wedding so this is the perfect time for would-be brides and grooms to obtain theirs. Wedding licenses are also issued by the Town Clerk’s Office on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. All other services of the Town Clerk’s Office will be available on that Saturday also, including dog licenses, fishing licenses, handicapped parking permits, and all notary public services.

Newcomers to the Town of Newburgh can obtain “Welcome to the Town of Newburgh” packets of valuable information.

Trinity United Methodist Parish is holding a Blood Drive on Tuesday, April 23, 2:30 - 7:30 p.m. at 1 Owens Road, Fostertown. Another way to help in your community.
