Hats for Spring Luncheon a huge success

Spring has sprung in all her splendor, and nowhere was it more gloriously welcome than at the 2ndAnnual Hats for Health Spring Luncheon hosted by the St. Luke’s Cornwall Auxiliary, May 11, at the beautiful scenic Storm King Tavern in Cornwall.

The warm sunny day was an invitation to the ladies to bring out their gorgeous spring and summer finery, decorated with bright and bold flowers, and pastel colors of the rainbow, and sparkling fun jewelry. But the fancy hats adorned with ribbons and showy flowers, and the stunning picture hats were a spectacle to behold (think of Britain’s Princess Kate and Princess Meghan). How delightful!

For some of us, this was our Mother’s Day special treat. The picture-perfect day included a delicious lunch, and it was as attractive as it was healthy, but the desserts were the sweetest and best of all. Adding to the fun, there were prizes and a silent dessert auction to support the SLC Auxiliary and Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall. And one lucky lady at each table brought home a pretty red begonia plant. It was a fun and friendly day!

The Hats for Health luncheon helped to raise awareness of the hard work, dedication, and generosity of the SLC Auxiliary to our community hospital. A brief history of the St. Luke’s Cornwall Auxiliary is that it began with the merger of the Cornwall Hospital Auxiliary and St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary, and together have 65 years of service to the hospital and our community.

The group is comprised of all volunteers who serve as goodwill ambassadors in the community, help raise awareness and help fundraise. They are a lovely group! Each year the Auxiliary works on several events, including the annual NICU Birthday Celebration! These events help bring funds and friends to the hospital. New members are always welcome.
