Javier “Javis” Flores Zapata, a lifetime resident of Newburgh, NY, parted on July 15, 2020, in St. Ines Ahuatempan, Puebla, Mexico.

Born at St. Luke’s in Newburgh, son of Hidalith Zapata, Javis is also survived by two younger brothers, Enrique E., age 6, and Julio C. Herrejon Jr., age 4. Javis also leaves behind his godfather and uncle Mizrraim Zapata; his uncle and aunt Nereo and Natalie Zapata in Guayama, Puerto Rico; and his loving grandparents Nereo and Maria Magdalena Zapata.

Javis was an artist, spending most of his free time drawing anime style sketches and drawings. Javis also loved Jiu Jitsu, Taekwondo, Muay Thai, soccer and chess. He will be missed by friends and family in Newburgh and by his new friends he made in his recent trips to Mexico. Javis had a special connection with animals and loved all types of domestic and farm animals. He was also known for being shy but respectful, kind, and courteous to others. Anyone that was fortunate to have met him will in one way or another remember him because of his ability to touch everyone.

Javis attended Horizons on the Hudson until 3rd grade then went to Temple Hill Academy where he made friends with classmates and teachers alike.

We will celebrate his life at Brooks Funeral Home, Saturday, August 15th, 2020 between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
