Joe L. Araiza of New Windsor passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. He was 99.
Joe was the son of the late Jose and Piedad Araiza, born on May 21, 1920 in Brownsville, TX.
Joe proudly served in the United States Air Force for 30 years. During World War II when stationed in England with the Mighty 8th Air Force, Joe’s B24 aircraft was shot down on his 18th mission over Politz, Germany, and was MIA for 6 months. During his enlistment in the Air Force, Joe also served in the Korean War. After 30 years of service with the Air Force, Joe was employed by the United States Postal Service in Newburgh, NY for 25 years.
Joe is survived by his wife, Julia V. Araiza; his sons, Corey Dayton and partner, Shizuko, and Clifford Gary Dayton and wife Claudia; and his grandson, Gary Joel Dayton and wife Tracy.
A private ceremony will be held for Joe with US Air Force Military Honors.
