K of C celebrates President’s Weekend

March is a moody lady, and even she doesn’t know whether she’ll dance in like a little lamb, kissing us with gentle spring breezes, or roar in like an angry lion, blasting us with yet, one more crippling ice and wind storm, but March has arrived, and the sweet smell of Spring is in the air, or there-about. Even though the first whispers of green are late coming, our spirits reawaken, along with the natural world, and that is a promise and a blessing.

So, I happily embraced March with a bright yellow forsythia wreath hanging at my entrance door, and I cheerfully bought myself a bouquet of favorite spring flowers, golden-yellow daffodils, and placed them where I quietly sit and enjoy my morning cup of coffee. Yes, I would rather see them outdoors, dancing wildly in the spring breezes, but there’s something about the soft yellow flowers in my home that warms my soul.

And with that thought in mind, today is Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent for Christians, a time to be quiet and think about God and His goodness, a time to plan how you can use your heart and mind to know and love Him, and in the quiet of the early morning, I have found my secret garden, my little space brightened by my sweet daffodils, to do just that.
