Leonor L. “Leo” Acosta, 76 of Newburgh, NY passed away at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital on Wednesday, June 10, 2020.

Leonor is the daughter of the late Juan Lopez and Gregoria Rivera, she was born in Coto Laurel Ponce, Puerto Rico on December 4, 1943.

Leonor came to New York with her siblings at the age of 10 and resided in Newburgh. She worked for George M. Carroll as a bus monitor. She was also a member of Hope Church in Fishkill.
Leonor was 76 when she passed away. It is hard to say goodbye, as she was always a happy person and better known as the life of the party. While we know that she is at peace and that her struggles are at an end, there is pain and sadness; but even though she is gone, she has left a legacy of her love and perseverance. She was happiest surrounded by her family as well as cooking for them. The ways she touched our lives will remain, and I ask you to keep those memories alive by sharing them with me and with one another.

Leonor is survived by her beloved husband Frank Acosta Sr. who she had been happily married to since September 28, 1963, her children Frank Acosta Jr. and his wife Maria and Marisol Neugebauer and her husband Michael; siblings Carmen Castro and Jose, Margarita Torres & Alejandro both of Hartford, CT, Aida Molinary, Linda Lopez both of Elizabeth, NJ and Debbie Lopez-Gutierrez and Elmer of Newark, NJ; sister-in-law Miriam Lopez of Orlando, FL; grandchildren Frank Acosta III and his fiance Jessica Torres of Southington CT, Justin Acosta and Bethany, Sashalee Acosta, Douglas Williams, Randy Acosta, Isabella Acosta, Michael B. Neugebauer and Marlyse B. Neugebauer; great grandchildren Orianna Williams, Maliah Williams, Ezekiel (Matos) Acosta, Arabella Acosta, Mya Dair, Kyrielle Keith , Mya Kenny all of Newburgh, NY, and many cousins, nieces & nephews who she cherished immensely.
In addition to her parents, Leonor is predeceased by her brother William Lopez and step sister Archie Guzman.

A funeral home service was held at Brooks Funeral Home on Saturday, June 13 with burial following in Calvary Cemetery.
