The Gardiner Library hosts a Writing Workshop with Steven Lewis on Saturday May 4 from noon to 2:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required.

This two and half hour workshop is about writing without bloodshed-and without alcohol. It’s about breaking through writer’s block. It’s about the virtues, the challenges, and the exhilaration of letting the story tell itself. And then-and only then-about the relatively minor scrapes and bruises (and sleeplessness) that come along with editing. Bring pen, paper or laptop ... and discover how to unblock the story you’ve been longing to tell.

Steve Lewis is a former Mentor at Empire State College, current member of the Sarah Lawrence College Writing Institute faculty, and longtime freelancer. His work has been published widely, from the notable to the obscure, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Christian Science Monitor, LA Times, Ploughshares, Spirituality & Health, Talking Writing, where he is a Contributing Writer, and a biblically long list of parenting magazines (7 kids, 16 grandchildren). He is also Literary Ombudsman for 650: Where Writers Read. His recent books include Zen and the Art of Fatherhood, The ABCs of Real Family Values, The Anxious Groom and Fear and Loathing of Boca Raton.
