After being appointed in July and elected in November of last year, town councilman Anthony LoBiondo was officially sworn in during this month’s town board meeting.

He was sworn in via Zoom due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and acknowledged how winning during hard times means more to him.

“I can honestly say now that after going through a somewhat difficult campaign because of the pandemic that it’s my pleasure and honor to serve,” he said.

LoBiondo, a Republican, won handily against his opponent, Rich Steger, in November, earning around 53 percent of the vote.

“Thousands of people put their trust in me, and I’m very eager to serve the town and the council,” he said.

He thanked his wife and law partner Juliana and two sons Michael and Christian in his acceptance speech.

LoBiondo joins the town council after years of working both in the district attorney’s office and in private practice. He is a lifelong Town of Newburgh resident.
