Lucas Prokosch to attend FDU

For the first time in a while, one of NFA’s baseball players has been signed to play Division I baseball. 17-year-old Lucas Prokosch, NFA Senior, signed his national letter of intent to play Division I Baseball at Farleigh Dickinson University last Wednesday at the auditorium on NFA’s main campus.

Supporting Lucas were his parents, teammates, coaches and more. According to his father, Alfred, Farleigh Dickinson was interested in Lucas after seeing him play during tournaments. Although his parents are nervous to see Lucas off on his own for the first time, they’re excited to see him achieve his dreams.

After various schools expressed interest, Lucas decided that Farleigh Dickinson was the best. The other schools were Division II and Division III schools. For Lucas, baseball was never just a hobby.

Lucas started playing baseball at the age of five. As a NFA Sophomore, Lucas had already made the varsity baseball team. From the moment he first hit the field, everyone who saw him play knew he was special.

“You always came through, worked hard,” said Edgar Glascott, NFA athletic director to Lucas. “We’re ready to see you do great things, represent us well on a Division I level.”

According to Glascott, the last time a NFA baseball player was signed to a Division I school was in the 1990s.

“I feel great,” said Lucas, while waiting in anticipation to sign his letter of intent.
“It’s very very relieving.”

For Lucas, the college search was long and exhausting. Although he had many choices, he had to decide based off of the amount of scholarship money offered, the quality of the baseball program, and academics.

Feeling excited to finally end his college search and to make his mark on the world, Lucas put his pen down and signed the letter. The auditorium was full of smiles and cheers, as his closest supporters celebrated his bright future.

At Farleigh Dickinson, Lucas will receive a hefty scholarship. In addition, he will start on the baseball field by his Sophomore year. Lucas also hopes to attend Farleigh Dickson’s Silberman College of Business.
