Meyers warns residents against ‘free’ water tests

Posted

New Windsor Town Supervisor George Meyer made a Facebook announcement on March 12 warning residents of direct mailing offering “free water tests” by a company called Hudson Valley Environmental Solutions. Meyers said the company does not have a solicitor’s permit, nor have they sought one out to sell its products.

The issue was brought to the attention of the town by a resident. According to Meyers, the free water test is an effort to sell homeowners a water treatment system for up to $6,000 or more. The company also may use the name Rain Soft.

Since the company has not sought out a permit, the town has not sanctioned them to sell products. The same company had left similar solicitations on people’s front doors and in their mailboxes a few months ago. That incident prompted the town to contact the New York State Department of Environmental Police who advised the company to stop. Meyers said that the company and the town have run into conflict many times.

“Clearly they didn’t heed this warning,” wrote Meyers. “Please don’t be fooled!”

Residents with questions over the issue are advised to contact Meyers at 845-563-4610.
