Hello New Windsor. Thanksgiving this year will definitely be a lot different for a lot of people especially for me and my family as we are used to a huge gathering for this holiday. Thanksgiving is the one holiday that everyone always comes back to NY for in my family and we usually have 50 or more people attend.
This year none of the out of state relatives are coming due to the pandemic and restrictions on travel. And being the state restrictions for numbers of people that can get together all of the family members that still live in NY are not all able to get together because that would still be over the limit of what is allowed. So we are keeping the celebrations to immediate family members. I am going to miss everyone getting together and telling funny stories around the table and catching up in person of what everyone has been doing since the last Thanksgiving since we don’t always get to see everyone in person throughout the year.
Not being together will definitely be hard but we all still have to be thankful for what we have, and though these are trying times we will get through them together. God bless everyone and please have a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Town of New Windsor Offices will be closed Thursday November 26 and Friday November 27 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Unfortunately with the Town of New Windsor being classified as a Covid 19 yellow hotspot zone the Town has to cancel our Christmas Tree Lighting which was scheduled for Friday December 4th at Kristi Babcock Memorial Park as well as our Hanukkah Menorah Lighting which was going to be held on Monday December 14th at Town Hall. Being in a yellow zone means there is a cap of 25 people that can be gathered for an outdoor gathering, which of course would not be anywhere near the amount that we have attend our events.

We in the Recreation Department are really disappointed that we will not be able to share the joy and happiness of these truly memorable traditions of these events that we hold every year with all of you. But everyone’s safety is our main concern and though we will not be together in person we will surely be thinking of all of you and yearning for things to return to normal so we all can be together as a community.

Birthday shout outs this week go to Dan Jackson whose birthday is on November 25, to Mike Zarrilli whose birthday is on November 26, to Chesnie Veronesi whose birthday is on November 27, and to anyone else out there celebrating birthdays this week. Happy birthday! If anyone has a birthday or other special event you want mentioned in my column, or have anything going on in New Windsor that you want the world to know about you can reach me at mveronesi@optimum.net or by calling 845-629-1260. Have a great week.
