New pastor to head 2 Episcopal churches

Posted

In a special ceremony on April 28, Rev. Brother Robert Pierson was installed to head Christ Church in Marlboro and the Ascension Holy Trinity Church in West Park. Both are Episcopal denominations.

Pierson has been serving the church for more than year, “but now I am being officially installed.”

Pierson, who is a monk at the Holy Cross Monastery in West Park, said a year ago the Monastery and the Diocese reached agreement that allows him to serve part-time for the two parishes.

Pierson said he loves his new job; “It’s wonderful.”

Pierson said in recent years the two churches have been struggling financially, “and they decided to go together to have one priest.”

Pierson said every Sunday he serves at Christ Church at 9 a.m. and then travels up to Ascension Holy Trinity for an 11 a.m. service.

“My Sundays are full but I am very much looking forward to it,” he said.
