New Windsor man killed in motorcycle accident

The Town of Newburgh Police are currently investigating a motor vehicle crash that occurred on April 20 at the intersection of State Route 52 and Rock cut Road.

Preliminary investigation shows a 2016 GMC Sierra operated by a 21- year-old male from Newburgh, westbound on Rt 52, attempting to make a left turn onto Rock Cut Road. Travelling eastbound on Rt 52 on a 2003 Harley Davidson was Shakir Rashada.

As the GMC attempted to make the left turn, the two vehicles collided. Shakir Rashada, 46 years old from New Windsor, was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this time, there are no charges and the accident is being investigated by the Town of Newburgh Police, assisted by the Orange County DA's office and New York State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit. Also assisting at the scene was Orange Lake Fire Department and Orange County Medical Examiners Office.
