The first annual African American Pride Parade and Festival took this past weekend in the City of Newburgh as the city honored one of its own.
Community activist Sadie Tallie, who has lived in Newburgh since 1956 was the inaugural honoree. Tallie has spearheaded many projects to raise awareness of black history and the city’s rich African American heritage. She rode in a convertible down Broadway for Saturday’s parade, which was followed by a two-day festival in Downing Park.
