Newburgh celebrates the Arts! Over sixty artists will participate in the Tenth Annual Newburgh Open Studios organized by Gerardo Castro and Michael Gabor, co-owners of Newburgh Art Supply taking place on Saturday and Sunday, September 26 and 27 from noon - 6 p.m. each day.

Maps will be available at Newburgh Art Supply, 5 Grand Street, both days of the tour, starting at 10 a.m. Newburgh Art Supply will be the central location for tour information and extra studio tour maps. This tour will introduce visitors to Newburgh’s dynamic arts community with the opening of artists’ work studios, alternative gallery spaces, outdoor public art, and pop-up shows. COVID compliance: All studios and participating locations will be self-regulating.

Newburgh Open Studios features a diverse selection of styles and artistic disciplines, from avant-garde video and photography, sculpture, performance art, printmaking, and traditional oil painting. Visitors will have the unique opportunity to meet and talk with emerging and established artists and craftspeople in spaces rarely open to the public. Much of the self-guided tour is ‘walkable’ and includes Atlas, Newburgh Community Photo Project, The Foundry, Ann Street Studios, Holland Tunnel Art Newburgh, ACG Gallery, Regal Bag Studios, The Carriage House, Safe Harbors Ann Street Gallery, ADS Warehouse, Grit Works, Artist-In-Vacancy, Chapman Steamer Arts, as well as live/work studios in the Historic District.

Newburgh Community Photo Project will premier NCPP Public Art Action: Unmasking the Truth in collaboration with Inside Out Project. The photographs of residents wearing COVID SAFE, #BLM and I CAN’T BREATHE have been wheat-pasted onto ten Newburgh buildings as a public art action in response to COVID-19 and Black Lives Matter, both of which disproportionately affect ethnically diverse communities such as Newburgh.

On the open lot across from The Foundry (Corner of Liberty Street & Lafayette) will be the place to experience Free Walk: Horse based performance group. Free Walk explores our existential thirst for the natural world. Performance: 3 and 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
