Ryler Gould repeated as the 400-meter hurdles D-1 state champion Friday in Middletown with a time of 51.81.
Saturday, during the federation race, Gould was disqualified at the start, leaving the track disappointed at the end of the meet. Earlier in the championships, the boys finished second in the 1,600-meter relay with a time of 3:14.56.
The girls’ 400-meter relay team finished eighth with a time 40.80, and the 1,600-meter relay team was 14th with a time of 4:03.87.
Amilia Wise-sweat, a sophomore, participated in her first individual event at the state championships, finishing 18th in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:17.37.
“It was very hard, but it was worth the experience,” she said. “It was fun in the end. It was worth it.”
