The City of Newburgh Police Department has established a traffic safety and enforcement unit within its Patrol Division. The Officers assigned to this unit will focus on strict enforcement of current vehicle and traffic laws and city ordinances related to traffic safety. This is a direct response to the 1,219 accidents that were reported from July 1, 2018 thru April 30, 2019, the numerous complaints from residents within the community and the (3) most recent fatal accidents.

All residents, visitors and commuters driving in the City of Newburgh should reduce their speed, adhere to all traffic laws and yield to any pedestrian or bicyclist sharing or attempting to cross the roadway.

Anyone found to be operating a vehicle without the driver or vehicle being properly licensed and insured can expect to have their vehicles impounded.
