Richard S. Wood, a Retired Laborer with Local 17 in Newburgh, and lifelong resident of the area, passed away on Wednesday January 9, 2019 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. He was 76.
The son of the late Willis Wood and Frances Storms Wood he was born on May 13, 1942 in Goshen.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years Judy at home, 5 children, Linda Sweetser of New York, Richard Wood of Kingston, Willis Wood and his wife Jennifer of Pine Bush, Herman Wood and his wife Cheryl of Pine Bush, and Christina Alfonso and her husband Ronald of Pine Bush. 8 grandchildren, Jeremy Wood, Ashley McQuillan and her husband Dan, Corey Wood and his wife Kellee, Lauren Simmons, Dylan Wood, Aleya Steinhilber, Tristan Alfonso and Gabriel Alfonso, 4 brothers, and 3 sisters. Richard is further survived by many many nieces and nephews and is predeceased by his 5 brothers.
Funeral services were held on Sunday January 13, at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd Pine Bush. Cremation will be held privately at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
