Happy Valentine’s Day!

Or the Feast day of Saint Valentine; the celebration of love and affection on February 14th. We should all celebrate the day, because everyone is loved!

The Newburgh Rotary Club is a nonsectarian service organization whose motto is “Service above Self”. With a growing membership, and increased service to the community, the Newburgh Rotary Club has undertaken a completely new approach for officers, in order to provide longer term experience and leadership for the club. Instead of one-year election for officers, the position of President, Vice President and Second Vice President has been extended to a two-year term, thus allowing planning and experience for several years. This years’ officers are Deborah Sager, President, Andrew Ciccone, Vice President, Lilli-Simmons-Byrnes, Second Vice-President Cathy McCarty, Secretary and Ed Sylcox,

The Rotary welcomed three new members Dorie Driscoll, was formerly a pension operations manager at TIAA, now retired. Lilli Simmons-Byrnes formerly a Site Administrator for ENT & Allergy, now shop manager at Vino 100 wine shop, and Regina McGrade is the Vice President for Development at Cornerstone Family Healthcare. All three new members have joined our Basketball Fundraising committee for the event planned for March 30th at NFA.

The basketball committee for the 3rd annual Newburgh Rotary basketball fundraiser has been meeting on Wednesday mornings for several weeks planning this year’s event. Sponsors who have been supportive in the previous events, as well as new sponsors, are being recruited to support this great community event. In addition, Participants for the day are now being sought, both new and those who have been engaged in the past two basketball fundraisers. The funds raised at past events have primarily been awarded to meet the needs of various youth groups and organizations in the Newburgh area. For additional information or to sign on as a sponsor or participant you can contact Cathy McCarty at 561-1706, or Doug Sturomski at 242-5545.

Newburgh Rotary Club meets for lunch every Tuesday at 12:15 p.m. at the Powelton Country Club, 29 Balmville Rd, Newburgh. Interested parties can find out more about the Newburgh Rotary Club and opportunities to give back to the community by attending a Rotary Club Meeting.

Andrew Zarutskie, Town Clerk of the Town of Newburgh, announces that he is soliciting applicants for two vacancies in the town government.

The Ethics Board is required by law to meet once a year (usually in July) but can meet at any other time by the call of the Chairman, as any situation may warrant.
The Town of Newburgh is also seeking a Town Historian.

Anyone wishing to apply for either position is asked to send a letter of intent and a resume to Town Clerk Zarutskie at 1496 Route 300, Newburgh 12550.

Wishing you all the best for the coming year.
