Roxie G. Benedict, of the Town of Newburgh, entered into rest on Friday, January 29, 2021. She was 86.

Daughter of the late A. Raymond and Catherine A. (McIntyre) Lauber, she was born on November 18, 1934 in Newburgh, NY.

A lifelong area resident, Roxie was a retired Administrative Assistant for the Newburgh Enlarged School District, Grand Street, Newburgh. Earlier in her life she worked at the Newburgh Town Hall in the Assessor’s Office and the Town Attorney’s Office. She was an avid reader and loved to knit and do jigsaw puzzles. Roxie was also an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Parish, giving of her time and bookkeeping skills.

Survivors include three sons, Darrell A. (Robin) Benedict, Duane A. (Susan) Benedict and Derek N. (Barbara) Benedict, all of the Town of Newburgh; two daughters, Roxann L. Giordano of the Town of Newburgh, and Dr. Rae T. Benedict, PHD, of Decatur, GA; eight beloved grandchildren, Dara (Aaron) Kopaskie, Cody Benedict, Alyssa Giordano, Jeremey Benedict, Tyler Giordano, Dillon Benedict, Dustin Benedict and Hayley Benedict; great grandchildren, Savannah Collins, Addison Kaposkie and Aaron Kaposkie, Jr., along with many nieces and nephews.

Roxie is predeceased by her husband, Cornelius M. Benedict in 2017; a son, Kevin R. Benedict in 1956; a brother, Ralph M. Lauber and a sister, Elizabeth M. Ludlow.

Visitation will take place, Tuesday, February 2, 2021 from 4  to 7 pm at White, Venuto and Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 N. Plank Road, Newburgh, NY.

A Funeral Service will take place 11: am on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 and the Funeral Home, with Pastor Michael O’Dowd officiating.

Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery

Due to the continued public health concerns, please know that there is an occupancy limitation which may cause a wait time, please be respectful of your time visiting. Facial covering must be worn in the funeral home at all times, and social distancing must be practiced.
