Ryler Gould, the defending state Division 1 400-meter hurdles champion, won the event at the Section 9 Class A championships Friday in the Middletown with a time of 53.38.
Gould also won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.70 and the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.16.
“I feel good, a little tired, but that’s normal,” he said, after winning the 110-meter hurdles. “I am just ready to go.”
Earlier this spring, Gould won the 400-meter hurdles at the Penn Relays, and he said he does not think about prior accomplishments when entering a meet.
“I just go from one meet to the next,” he said.
Gould also ran on Newburgh’s winning 400-meter relay team that finished with a time 43.06. The Goldbacks also won the 3,200-meter relay with a time of 8:13.51
For the girls, NFA won the 400-meter relay with a time of 49.86. Sania Kuylen was second in the 200-meter dash, and Taylor Walters was third in the 100-meter dash.
