Safe Harbors presents Comedy Night

Greetings from River City. Saint Patrick died on March 17, 461 in Saul, County Down, where he established his first church. He is buried in Down Cathedral. In reading about Saint Patrick, I found that the first Saint Patrick’s Day parade was actually in Boston in 1737! New York held its first in 1766.
Ireland held its first parade in honor of the Saint, in Waterford in 1903. And, although Dublin came a later to the celebration, holding its first in 1931, it is a whopper, weaving its way through the city.

We can thank an Irish Franciscan friar (I love Franciscans) born in 1558 who kept at it until March 17 became the saint’s feast day. Saint Patrick’s Day is really a day meant for spiritual renewal. You might think about checking out Saint Patrick’s life and his influence.
