A celebration of student film and art was held Friday, April 5 at the Seligmann Center in Sugar Loaf. Students from two area high schools and SUNY New Paltz walked away with jury recognition for their film creations.

The brainchild of the student interns from EC Media Group, LLC and the Citizens Foundation, the festival was designed to showcase works of art by Orange and Ulster area college, high school and middle school students who submitted short films, photography and paintings.

Taking home top honors for films under two minutes long were winner Brandon DeSouza from Pine Bush High School, second-place finisher Anais M. Cantres from Newburgh Free Academy and Joshua Dudzik from SUNY New Paltz, who finished third.

About 110 students came out to screen the films and enjoy the art exhibit. Based on the successful turn out, organizers plan to make the exhibit an annual event.
