Town hires laborer

Two requests made by the Town of Newburgh recreation department were approved by the Town of Newburgh board during the latest workshop meeting, along with a request from the Town of New Windsor..

Parks and Recreation commissioner James Presutti, a former town councilmember, made the request to hire Ryan Mayer as a part-time laborer starting on September 21, as well as the request to purchase a new groomer to trim the local softball and baseball infields.

Presutti himself attended the virtual meeting on Zoom to explain why the upgrade was needed.

“This is this is a field groomer that will replace our 1980 one,” he said, “something that we’ve been using forever to groom the fields for softball and baseball.”

With the upgraded groomer, the fields will look smoother and thereby make it easier to play softball and baseball, according to Presutti.

Additionally, the Town of New Windsor recreation department requested to borrow the stage used by the Town of Newburgh for an occasion on September 12. The Town of New Windsor is hosting a Tribute to Essential Workers that evening at Kristi Babcock Memorial Park.
