Cronomer Valler Firefighters were dispatched to a fully involved tractor trailer fire,northbound mile marker 64.4 on New York State Thruway on July 12. A tractor trailer was at Plattekill Rest Area when the fire started. Cronomer Valley Command requested one engine from Plattekill FD to scene,fire fighters used hand lines to extinguish the fire and hand tools to dismantle the cab. The tractor spilled 100 gallons of fuel. Orange County HAZMAT and Maybrook FD responded with their spill trailer. New York State Police were at the scene along with State DOT representatives. Winona Lake was on standby at Cronomer Valley Firehouse during the incident.
