Two arrested for armed robbery in Town of Newburgh

Town of Newburgh Police arrested two local men for an Armed Robbery that occurred on Saturday October 10 at 11:50 p.m.

The two men met with a 32 yr old female at the back entrance to the NYS Thruway South rest stop. At the location, one of the men pulled a gun on the female and stole her money. While driving off, the woman, who was still outside her vehicle, was hit with the suspects’ car, receiving minor injuries. Town Officers found the vehicle, occupied, a short time later on Quaker St. The driver was detained and the passenger fled the vehicle, but was quickly apprehended shortly after the stop. Police learned the gun was thrown out the window at some point on Quaker St.

Officer Thompson and his K9 partner, Durak, responded to the scene. Thompson and K9 Durak, their 1st day on patrol after graduating the Orange County Police/K9 academy, searched a lengthy area on Quaker St and recovered the weapon, which was found to be a stolen handgun.

Arrested was Adam Colandrea, 36, Town of Newburgh and Steven Wolfe, 24, City of Newburgh. Both Colandrea and Wolfe were charged with Robbery 1st (2 counts) and Robbery 2nd. Wolfe was additionally charged with Escape 1st when he shoved an officer and fled out a door at the police station. He was captured within feet outside the door.

Both defendants were arraigned by Town Justice Jude Martini, to return on 10/13/20. Bail was set for Wolfe at $50,000 cash, $100,000 bond or $200,000 partial bond. Colandrea was $25,000 cash, $50,000 bond or $100,000 partial bond.
