UUC welcomes noted singers, composer

The Great Music of the Hudson Valley series of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Rock Tavern, will feature three nationally noted local professional musicians on Sunday, Feb. 24 at 4 p.m.

Baritone Elex Lee Vann and musician/composers Steve and Ada Margoshes will be showcasing their internationally acclaimed and Broadway talents.

A renowned opera singer and teacher, Elex has sung opera in Europe, including at LaScala in Milan and at the Opera Bastille in Paris. In the United States he has performed in Porgy and Bess, La Boheme, Magic Flute and many others. Favorite roles include Joe in Showboat and Jim in Big River. Elex’s passion for music is evident through his teaching and singing. He is founder and co-owner of “Sing from the Heart Music Studio in Newburgh. Vann will sing a program including Poetry by e.e. cummings set to music by Ada Margoshes along with songs by Steven Sondheim and others.

Steve Margoshes is the composer of the Broadway musical “Fame” among many other compositions. He will perform several of his works on keyboard, and he and Ada will perform a piece together. Steve and Ada are married, met at Julliard and are one of the most talented pair of pianists/composers in the Hudson Valley.

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship hall is located at 9 Vance Road in the New Windsor hamlet of Rock Tavern. Suggested donation for the concert is $20.
