Children in Miss Cindy’s Neighborhood Nursery School visited the Wallkill Library and were thrilled to learn that libraries are our best friends.

Boys and girls in Miss Cindy’s Neighborhood Nursery School enjoyed a happy visit to the Wallkill Library and what a more wonderful way to spend a brutally cold winter’s day, cozily wrapped in the warmth and brightness of one of our favorite libraries. The book-lined shelves seemed to reach out and invite the little ones to take a peek, and with eye-catching colorful designs on the book covers to help choose a favorite book for them, or for an adult to read to them or with them, the children were absolutely delighted. They gathered on the comfortable rug and couldn’t wait for the friendly librarian to read an animated story to them. And they really listened, because the librarian made the story so interesting and entertaining that they didn’t want the story to end.
Miss Cindy was grateful for this enlightening experience with her nursery school boys and girls, especially because these little ones couldn’t wait to go home and show their family the wonderful picture book picked out all by themselves, and the extra bonus was that the children wanted to go back and visit the library again, only this time with their mom and dad. Books are our best friend.
Once again Meadow Hill School is participating in the Project Fit America Grant Contest. The result of this contest is an award that will provide outdoor fitness equipment that can be utilized by the community. Danielle DeSarro, a coordinator for the school’s participation, asks for the assistance of the greater Orange County citizenry as well as tri-state residents.
This event began on February 2 and will continue through February 28. According to DeSarro, Meadow Hill School was in this contest last year and placed 8th out of 77 schools. Hopefully, they will be one of the top 4 schools to win this year.
There is no cost to anyone, and the only requirement is that voters must be 13 years and older, to vote every day from each email account you have, between February 2 and 28 at the following website: : danimals.com/schoolgrantswithpurpose.
You can have fun participating in Pocketbook Bingo, while raising money for St. Teresa of Calcutta, Sacred Heart-St. Francis Parish, on Saturday, Feb. 9, at Sacred Heart Parish Center, Father Gallo Hall, 24 South Robinson Ave. in Newburgh.
The doors open at 6 p.m., and Bingo starts promptly at 7 p.m. The cost is $40 per person and includes one bingo card set (10 games/3 chances per game), a door prize raffle ticket, and a gift. Additional cards will be available to purchase.
The winner of each game will receive a new and authentic designer handbag, such as Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Tory Burch, Furla, Coach, and more! Increase your chances of winning! Additional purses will be available for raffle purchases.

Save the date! March 10, is the St. Patrick’s-St. Mary’s Parish Feast Day Celebration at Anthony’s Pier 9 in New Windsor. Cocktail hour will be from 4 to 5 p.m., and dinner and dancing will be from 5 to 9 p.m. DJ Twist has once again generously donated his time and talent to this parish.
