Walter “Freddie” F. Michael, a lifelong Newburgh resident, passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020. He was 92.

Son of the late Walter and Hazel (Mayhood) Michael he was born in Newburgh, NY on December 29, 1927.

Walter was the retired owner/operator of Fred Michael and Son Foundry and Machine Works, Newburgh. He also proudly served his country in the National Guard of NY from 1942 to 1945. He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, Hudson River Lodge #309 Free and Accepted Masons, the Little Britain Grange, Newburgh Post # 52 American Legion and was a regular contributor to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Walter was happily married to the late Elaine (McQuiston) Michael, the love of his life, for 64 years. She predeceased him in 2011.

Survivors include two daughters, Elaine Wilson and her husband Eddie of the Town of Newburgh, and Linda Bowen of Newburgh; four grandchildren, Erica Bowen, Crystal Alverez, Eddie Wilson and his fiancée Jasmina and Laura Wilson; ten great-grandchildren, Kylie Johnson, Alyssa Lopez, Shayne Lopez, Samuel Alvarez, Katiana Alverez, Abner Alvarez, Mariano Wilson. Andrew Kingsley, Isabella Kingsley and Sierra Marrow, and one great great grandchild, Avion Ponder.

Private cremation has taken place at Cedar Hill Crematory.

Memorial Visitation will take place Thursday, January 9, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at White, Venuto and Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 N. Plank Road, Newburgh, NY. A Funeral Service will follow, 2:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home, with The Rev. Ernst Mossl officiating. Inurnment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
