Please consider participating in one of our HCSD Climate & Culture/Racial Equity Parent Focus Groups, facilitated by Dr. Gess LeBlanc. Approximately 6-8 District parents/guardians/caregivers will be selected to participate in small, diverse group discussions based on building. The meetings will be held via Zoom (a link will be sent to participants in advance).
Discussions will be scheduled from 6 - 7 p.m. on the following:
Tues., Sept. 29, Highland Middle School Group
Tues., Oct. 6, Highland High School Group
The focus groups are designed to provide anecdotal data to help us prioritize and frame our climate & culture/racial equity work. Small groups will allow all participants to voice their experiences and perspectives. District administrators will not participate in the meetings and all feedback will be anonymously collected. This will be a first in a series of focus groups that will be held throughout the year. If you are not selected for the first group, we will alert you about opportunities as the year progresses.

If you are interested in participating, please e-mail Carly Jacobsen, cjacobsen@highland-k12.org or call 845.691.1014

During these difficult and uncertain times, I have been trying to spend the last few weeks on what I like to call “Pops of Positivity”. Since I cannot keep you posted on events that are going on, and many of us have been feeling disconnected without these events I think it important to focus on the good, even more than ever. Each week in my column, I’ve been trying to highlight any story from our wonderful community that highlights little moments, or Pops!, of positivity  when so much negative is surrounding us. If you have a “Pop of Positivity!” you would like to share during quarantine, please email me at mrskendraelliot@gmail.com or call 845-706-9582.
