The Gardiner Library will offer Chair Yoga with Mary Conway on Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. beginning May 2.

Students can buy a four class pass for $50, or walk-in class for $15. Chair Yoga is a gentle form of yoga that can be done sitting on a chair or standing while using the chair for support. It is beneficial for people with limited mobility. It will improve flexibility, increase strength and reduce joint strain. Incorporating breath work with the poses can help clear the brain of unwanted thoughts, improve mood and decrease stress. This class can benefit people with Parkinson’s disease, MS, Rheumatoid Arthritis and other auto-immune diseases, as well as those recuperating from surgery.

Yoga has been a part of Mary Conway’s life for over fifteen years. Upon retirement from a career in education, Mary completed her RYT 200 yoga certification with Lotus Gardens Yoga in Sherman, Connecticut under the direction of Lara Ward. During her beautiful journey as a yoga instructor, her students have become her own teachers enabling a deeper self-practice.

Other fitness classes offered at the library include Wabi Sabi Yoga, Tai Chi, Chair-Based Exercise Classes and Zumba. Information about these classes, including times and pricing can be found at gardinerlibrary.org.
