Events committee begins planning for Springfest

A Message from the Town of Lloyd Events Committee:  It’s about that time that we begin the planning for Springfest! With all this snow we hope to bring you warm thoughts. The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, from  11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Main Street and Vineyard Avenue in the Hamlet of Highland. 
The FEE will NOT be due until a month prior to event (mid April). This is to protect vendors in case the event does not happen due to the pandemic. Once we receive your application we will notify you that your PLACE has been HELD. Payment notifications will be sent out mid April.

Please note we will be working closely with the Health department and following any state guideline set at the time of the event to ensure the safety of our vendors and patrons. 
 

Kindergarten Registration Open 
The Kindergarten registration process for the 2021-2022 school year is now open! Parents and guardians may contact the Registrar’s Office at 691-1032 with questions or can visit Highland High School weekdays between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. to sign out a registration packet. Packets must be taken home to be completed and then returned. There is a special registration packet for Kindergarten that is not available on the District’s website. Children eligible to register for Kindergarten must be five years of age on or before December 1, 2021. 
Please note, the date for Kindergarten screening has not yet been determined. 
 
Community Food Drive Extended 
Food supplies are drastically low in the community. It has been a tough year. Highland Public Library will be collecting food to help replenish and provide assistance those in need. Donations will be made to Ulster County Community Action Agency through March 31. 
Donations of non-perishable food goods can be dropped off at the library during business hours. Please check dates on all items. We can not accept donations of expired goods.

Blind Date with a Book 
Blind Date with a Book is back at the Highland Public Library for the month of February. Visit the library at https://highlandlibrary.org/  to give your preferences and the library will put together your Blind Date with a book pack! 
  
Technology Help with John at the Library 
Need help acquiring basic skills using computers, sign up for a one to one virtual class with our resident computer expert, John Zaoutis from the Highland Public Library.  
John will create a program to meet your needs from basic computer functions to building spreadsheets. 
What to get the most out of our digitial library services. Register today! John will contact you and develop a program to help you get the most our of your computer time. 
Once you register, you will receive a link to join an online Zoom meeting. It’s safe, quick and easy.

For all Curbside Crafts: Crafts need to be picked up within the week of the craft.  Pictures of crafts made are encouraged. Please call the library at 845-691-2275 and schedule a pickup time 
Create a Valentine Robot. Registration is required. Valentine Robot kits are available through our curbside service and available until Saturday, February 13. Kits are limited to 15 and registration is required. 
New to the craft kits are a book that will go with the subject of the craft. The book needs to be returned within 3 weeks from when you checked it out. 
Registration is required. Valentine Monkey Craft Kits are available to be picked up through our curbside service and is available all week long until Saturday February 13. There are only 12 kits available for the week.  The kit includes template, cardboard roll and instructions.
