Ulster County Legislator Gina Hansut presented the camp with the “Pride of Ulster” recognition as the council re-dedicated the dining hall the “Marion Borden Dining Hall.”

Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson, Inc. (GSHH) celebrated the 100th Anniversary of Camp Wendy on Saturday, September 30, 2023 with a fundraising dinner and re-dedication of the dining hall to honor the legacy of Marion Borden, who bequeathed the camp to the Girl Scouts, as the “Marion Borden Dining Hall.”

Saturday’s celebration was attended by fifty members of the Camp Wendy community, including those who attended the camp from the 1940s through the 1990s. Also in attendance was Camp Wendy alum and Ulster County legislator Gina Hansut, who presented the camp with the “Pride of Ulster County” certificate in recognition of 100 years of service to Girl Scouts in the community.

The celebration dinner was part of the GSHH’s Girl Scouts Love CAMPaign Challenge, which is a fundraising campaign of raising $250,000 for the councils three camps; Camp Wendy, Camp Addisone Boyce in Rockland County and Rock Hill Camp in Putnam County. Saturday’s dinner brought in over $5,000 between event tickets, silent auction bids and private donations. The funds collected during the event are specifically for improvements at Camp Wendy, including the winterization of the Marion Borden Dining Hall.

The 100th anniversary celebration is led by a volunteer committee, chaired by Erica Darcy and members Kathy Maxcy, Patricia Hauck, Nina Muller, Pam Pardee, Chase Brooks and Lorraine O’Donnell, along with GSHH Board President Gale Hauck and Margaret Seiler, great-niece of Girl Scouts founder, Juliette Gordon Low.
