Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson, Inc. seeks candidates for Board of Directors

Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson, Inc. (GSHH) is on the lookout for dedicated individuals who are passionate about empowering girls and young women to join their Board of Directors. The organization, which has been shaping young leaders and making a positive impact for over a century, is searching for candidates willing to commit their time, talent and treasure to further the Girl Scout mission.

The heart and soul of Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson, Inc. is led by a dedicated team consisting of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO), a Board of Directors, staff and volunteers. This collective effort is essential in setting the course and governance of the council, ensuring that girls have the support they need to become leaders who shape the future.

The Board of Directors plays a vital role in this process. Their responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with the CEO to shape the vision of Girl Scouting.
- Ensuring the availability of necessary resources for strategic priorities.

- Establishing policies for the council’s development and advancement.
- Maintaining governance documents effectively.
- Positioning the council within the community for maximum benefit to all girls.
- Monitoring and evaluating the organization’s performance.
Candidates for the Board of Directors are expected to commit their time, talent, and treasure to support the Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson, Inc. in the following ways during their three-year term:
TIME
- Attend regular Board meetings.
- Serve on at least one Board committee each year.
- Review materials before meetings for informed decision-making.
- Attend and represent the council at events and activities in the community.
TALENT
- Stay informed about community trends and developments.
- Advocate for the Girl Scout Movement and GSUSA causes.
- Engage in decision-making processes.
- Respect confidentiality in Board work.
- Contribute to the development of the council’s strategic priorities.
TREASURE
- Register annually with the Girl Scout organization.
- Make an annual financial contribution of at least $2,500 to GSHH.
- Play an active role in developing the council’s financial resources.
- Help identify and cultivate potential donors.

Candidates interested in becoming a part of the Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson, Inc. Board of Directors or Board Development Committee are encouraged to submit their applications for consideration.
