Whenever I get together with my Democratic friends the subject of President Trump’s racist xenophobic child abuse at the southern border comes up. I have always agreed that is truly horrid, but I’ve tried to give my fellow Democrats some hope by pointing out that it could be much worse, at least he hasn’t killed thousands of people in an awful senseless war like the invasion of Iraq.

Now I can no longer say that the Trump Administration could be worse, because the Monday morning real news is alive with a breaking story about the President withdrawing American troops from Syria. The American troops are a buffer between the Turks and our Kurdish allies in the war against ISIS. When President Trump announced he was pulling U.S. troops out of Syria months ago, General Maddox resigned in large part because removing American troops would lead to the slaughter of our Kurdish allies by the Turks.

The Turks don’t want to lose territory to an independent Kurdish state and they have a history of ethnic cleansing through genocide. After the Maddox resignation and the clamor about America’s responsibility to its allies the American withdrawal from Syria was cancelled, but now that awful inhumane idea, that further damages America’s image on the world stage, has been revisited.

I’m once again stunned by the inhumanity of the man who should be considered the leader of the free world.
