At their last meeting the Highland Central School District honored their Leaders of the Pack for March.

Elementary School
Sive Plover was named the Highland Elementary Leader of the Pack by Assistant Principal Tulani Samuel, who began by saying that Plover, “is our model student.”

Samuel said Plover has been to the school’s main office a number of times, “to advocate for others and for herself about a new playground that she wants.”

Plover’s classroom teachers, Mrs. Weber and Mrs. Jamal, said, “Sive is such a pleasure to have in class and shares her beautiful, friendly personality every day. She’s a hard worker and she has the biggest heart.”

Mrs. Aaron, her physical therapist, said, “Sive is a very kind, generous, hard-working and determined little girl.”

Coach Helmer said, “Sive is a kind-hearted and thoughtful student to have in class. She’s very responsible.”

Mrs. Virgadamo, her 2nd grade teacher, said that while Sive received her online tutoring, “you were there everyday, willing to learn, with a smile on your face and a positive attitude.”

Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Hollifield said, “I love all of my times spent as Sive’s teacher. She’s such an amazing girl and she is compassionate and kind and she truly cares about others and she’s there for anyone in need.”

Library teacher Mrs. Patricia said Sive, “is a wonderful addition to the library and is hard-working, kind and helpful.

Art teacher Ms. Gallagher described Sive as a, “truly wonderful student,” and Music teacher Mrs. McCaffrey said Sive is, “an absolute joy to have in music.”

Jordynn Williams was named the Highland Middle School Student of the Month for March. Assistant Principal Andrew Carnright read from a list of comments made by Jordan’s teachers.

Mr. Banks said, “I’m so glad to have her as a student this year. She’s such a hard worker and participates with everything in class. Jordynn always comes down to my classroom positive and ready to work.”

Mr. Rizzi described Jordynn as a, “fabulous student and a wonderful musician. She is always positive and hard-working and that shows through her ability to play the flute.”

Ms Geiger said, “Jordynn strives to do the very best she can in all aspects, whether it be academically or in the sports she plays. She is a kind, warm young woman who truly deserves this award.”

Ms. Curcio said, “Jordynn is not just a great student but a wonderful person. She’s conscientious, hard-working and exceptionally kind. She always has a smile on her face and is a joy to have in class.”

Kayleigh Kaplan was named the Highland High School Leader of the Pack for March. Assistant Principal Brandon Opitz said Kayleigh is also a student athlete at the high school.

School Counselor Ms. Garcia said, “I am proud to say that she exemplifies an impressive array of positive qualities. She is always smiling, friendly, hard-working and has an eagerness to volunteer within the school community.”

Garcia said Kayleigh recently spoke to eighth graders about her high school experience, “showcasing her leadership and mentorship skills. She is a true role model and I am fortunate to have the opportunity to work with her.”

Mr. Cozzolino said he admires, “how hard Kayleigh works, how positive she is and how much she cares about her friends and peers.”

Cozzolino has taught Kayleigh for the past two years, “and I’ll definitely miss her when she graduates and I’m certain she will thrive beyond Highland.”

Coach Geller said, “Kayleigh is not only the Leader of the Pack, but she was also the Leader of our girl’s basketball team. She showed maturity and composure in helping to lead us to a successful year for the basketball program. She also gives her best effort in Physical Education.”
