On Friday, May 24, students at Highland High School took a moment to remember and honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

During the annual Memorial Day Ceremony assembly, students gathered on the school’s front lawn for the tribute to all those who have lost their lives in service to our country, especially local heroes who gave all. Capt. Steven Massee, USN (ret.), Director of Veteran Affairs, Ulster County, and Sgt. Christopher Froland, Commander Lloyd American Legion Post 193, spoke to the students about freedom and the ultimate sacrifice that some pay to ensure our nation remains free. The Band and Chorus performed lovely music selections.

The student body formed a procession and shook the hands of the guests and thanked them for their service.
