Highland to host three graduation ceremonies

Posted

Members of the Highland High School Class of 2020 will be honored on Thursday, July 30, in three separate ceremonies at the Dr. Carl F. Meekins Football Field at Highland High School.
Current state COVID-19 guidelines prohibit gatherings of more than 150. Based on that information, the district conducted a survey of the senior parents, given them a choice of a ceremony with graduates only, or to schedule three ceremonies and allow guests to attend. Last week, the district reported that 36.36% favoring changing the ceremony to graduates only, 55.61% preferring to keep graduation as three ceremonies that allow two guests, and 8.02% with no preference.
The starting times for each ceremony (listed below) are determined by last name. Graduates are asked to arrive 20 minutes before the start of the ceremony.

3 p.m. - Acosta - Garcia
5 p.m. - Garside - Perez
7 p.m.- Perry - Wood
In the event of rain, the ceremonies will be postponed to Friday, July 31. All three ceremonies will be recorded so they can be viewed remotely and plans to live stream the events are being made.
